Introduction
Organizations are increasingly using specialized applications such
as TIB/Rendezvous from TIBCO Software Inc., to provide robust data
delivery for Financial Market Data and e-business infrastructures.
These technologies give companies the ability to manage and profit
from change and become market leaders. TIBCO provides a state-of-the-art
messaging infrastructure to make these solutions possible. The most
basic need of application-to-application integration is the efficient
movement of data within and beyond the enterprise. As the foundation,
the messaging technology must be efficient, reliable and scalable.
It must be flexible enough to support the integration of off-the-shelf
and custom-built applications, and it must garner industry-wide
support among leading technology companies. TIB/Rendezvous is the
Industry Messaging Standard and the foundation of TIBCO ActiveEnterprise,
TIBCO's line of e-business infrastructure products. With more than
1,000 customer installations worldwide and support from leading
vendors in all areas, Rendezvous is rapidly emerging as the standard
for enabling mission-critical real-time messaging for robust market
data delivery and e-business infrastructures. Rendezvous is the
premier messaging product used by major Internet portals, semiconductor
manufacturing companies, and over 300 of the world's largest financial
institutions. The efficiencies offered by applications such as TIB/Rendezvous
are significant, but as companies deploy greater numbers of messaging
servers and clients, the administrative requirements can rise, and
the rule bases and policies become more complex.
Introduction
Middleware continues to be an integral software component for organizations
requiring communications among distributed applications. IBM WebSphere®
MQ allows you to easily exchange information across different platforms,
integrating both existing and new business applications. In the process,
the solution simplifies development of Application Programming Interface
(API) exits and assures reliable delivery of messages while dynamically
distributing workload across available resources.
For over two decades, IBM has remained committed to their MQ line
of solutions, introducing WebSphereMQ as the connectivity between
its WebSphere application servers and DB2 databases. In the e-business
world, WebSphere® MQ has helped to ensure critical transactional
information is delivered accurately and securely.
SMA developed the WebSphereMQ cartridge for Foglight to monitor
the health and performance of this mission critical component. Combined
with Quest’s award wining solutions for the monitoring of
Websphere and UDB/DB2, Foglight® can now provide end to end
monitoring of these critical applications.
The SMA WebSphereMQ cartridge for Foglight provides detailed information
for all MQ components running on or associated with a Foglight monitored
host. Arranged in functional units, the solution is comprised of
four separate agents; MQ Monitor, MQ Queue Manager, MQ Application
Monitor, and the MQ Log Watch. The MQ Monitor Agent watches the
state of all defined Queue Managers. The MQ Queue Manager agent
automatically discovers all Channels, Queues and Processes associated
with a Queue Manager. The MQ Application Monitor ensures all process
associated with the application are available, and also monitors
the detailed resource consumption of these physical OS processes.
The MQ Log Watch alerts on events found in the MQ error logs.
Following the Foglight paradigm, the agent provides comprehensive
monitoring, alerting reporting, and performance tracking for this
mission critical component. The agent runs and is supported on AIX,
Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, Windows 2000, 2003.
Introduction
Today’s computing environments are highly distributed, and
often contain data and application components across disparate system
and network elements. Organizations need to accomplish more with
less. Collaborative solutions such as Lotus Notes/Domino enable
users to interact and communicate across an organization. The solution
facilitates the reliable delivery of information and allows communication
and collaboration in real-time. Critical applications such as Domino
affect hundreds or thousands of users. Typical system problems like
server crashes, mail routing or replication failures, database corruption,
and insufficient system resources can quickly bring end-user interaction
with Lotus Domino to a halt. To help ensure user satisfaction, Domino
administrators often spend time reacting to problems instead of
trying to prevent them.
SMA developed the Lotus Domino cartridge for Foglight to monitor
the health and performance of this mission critical component. Combined
with Quest’s award wining Foglight Architecture, and utilizing
the Notes and Domino Application Programming Interface (API), SMA
now provides in-depth monitoring for this critical application.
The Foglight Cartridge for Lotus Domino empowers operators
with a tool to maintain the highest level of availability and performance
for Domino servers and dependent business processes. The solution
monitors all aspects of Domino messaging servers, from basic system
performance and stopped services to connectivity problems, traffic
bottlenecks, and login failures. Problems can be diagnosed and corrected
automatically or escalated to allow operators and administrators
to react more quickly to issues affecting application availability.
Foglight for Lotus Domino minimizes the time that administrators
have to spend reviewing Domino logs.
The solution provides automatic discovery of Domino
components and collects comprehensive statistics from the environment.
Combining the strength of the Foglight rules and graphics engines
with the data collected from the Domino administrative database
provides operators with the ability to be notified of resource constraints,
application process availability, and performance bottlenecks. Foglight’s
historical database makes it possible to identify trends and do
capacity planning.
Following the Foglight paradigm, the cartridge provides
comprehensive monitoring, alerting reporting, and performance tracking
for this mission critical component. The agent runs and is supported
on AIX, Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, Windows 2000, 2003.
Regardless of which TIBCO solutions you have in place, SMA has a solution
designed to meet your TIBCO monitoring needs. Our base solution provides
the ability to collect critical information on TIBCO Rendezvous. In
addition, we have developed extensions designed to support TIBCO applications
in critical market sectors including Securities & Trading, Telecommunications,
Energy, Manufacturing, and Distribution. Weather you are running Rendezvous
exclusively, or BusinessWorks as part of a Siebel solution, SMA has
designed a solution to meet your monitoring needs.
