Foglight for Amazon Neptune
Graph database monitoring, powered by CloudWatch
Description
Amazon Neptune is a fast, reliable, fully managed graph database service that makes it easy to build and run applications that work with highly connected datasets. It supports the popular property-graph and W3C RDF models, and is engineered for high availability with read replicas, point-in-time recovery, and replication across Availability Zones.
Foglight for Amazon Neptune is an SMA cloud-API cartridge. Instead of connecting to the database with JDBC, its FglAM agent polls Amazon CloudWatch for the AWS/Neptune namespace and queries the Neptune management API (DescribeDBClusters / DescribeDBInstances) using AWS SDK v2.
Business Challenge
Neptune exposes a rich set of CloudWatch metrics, but CloudWatch alone makes it hard to see a cluster as a single living system - to relate instance CPU and memory to query latency, storage growth, and replication lag in one place, with history and alerting tuned to a graph workload.
Foglight for Amazon Neptune assembles those CloudWatch series and management-API facts into a cluster-keyed topology, so the whole environment reads as one health surface rather than a wall of disconnected charts.
Key Features
See the cluster and its instances together: query performance, storage and I/O, and replication in one console instead of disconnected CloudWatch graphs.
Six dashboards and proactive alerting help you catch latency, storage growth, and replica lag before graph applications miss their SLAs — with nothing to install on the Neptune hosts.
