Amazon Redshift is a fully managed, petabyte-scale cloud data warehouse built on columnar storage and massively parallel processing. Teams use it for analytics, BI, and ETL workloads that demand fast SQL over large datasets, often alongside other AWS data services.

Foglight for Amazon Redshift brings warehouse telemetry into Foglight so DBAs and platform owners can watch cluster utilization, query performance, and storage growth from the same console they use for the rest of the database estate.

Redshift exposes useful metrics in CloudWatch and the AWS console, but queue wait times, disk pressure, and concurrency spikes are easy to miss when each cluster is viewed in isolation. Without history and proactive alerting, teams discover saturation only when dashboards slow down or nightly loads miss their window.

Key Features

Foglight for Amazon Redshift monitors key warehouse signals including CPU and disk utilization, query throughput, WLM queue depth, connections, and replication lag, consolidating CloudWatch, Log, and Redshift API data into a single health surface with the Foglight Rules Engine watching for conditions that precede warehouse slowdowns.

As with all Foglight solutions, it runs as a native Foglight process on the Foglight Agent Manager (FglAM) and leverages the Foglight Rules Engine to alert on potential performance and availability issues before they impact analytics consumers.
